ABOUT US

The BC Thrombosis Network comprises a community of Thrombosis Specialists dedicated to the care of patients with venous thromboembolic disorders. Our goal is to provide timely, accessible, and high-quality tertiary-level care for patients throughout the province of British Columbia. We are also actively engaged in academic research, quality improvement, and medical education.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive, accessible, and tertiary-level thrombosis services for patients with thromboembolic disorders in British Columbia. We apply a patient-centered approach to promote wellness and optimize health outcomes through evidence-based practices. We embrace a team-based approach to provide coordinated and comprehensive care that addresses the diverse needs of our patients. We value continuous learning and professional growth to ensure our practices are up to date with the latest research and clinical standards.

Our Thrombosis Clinics are distributed in several health authorities, and provide accessible care to patients living across a broad catchment area. For a detailed list of our locations and services offered at each site, please click here.

Our network offers clinical training opportunities for medical students and post-graduate trainees in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Learners also have the opportunity to engage in clinical research as well as quality improvement projects.

Post-graduate trainees seeking formal subspecialty training in Thrombosis Medicine can apply through the University of British Columbia to complete a one-year clinical Thrombosis Fellowship program, accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. This program is designed to provide fellows with the competencies to function independently as Thrombosis Specialists in Canada. For further information, please click here
